Q1. Do I need to have past experience of working in the industry to work for We Support?
A1. While past experience is beneficial it is not essential and we will provide full training and support before you start working with our service users.

Q2. Do I need any specific qualifications to work as a support worker?
A2. An NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent in a relevant industry qualification is desirable but not essential for application.

Q3. What training do you provide to new employees without previous experience in support work?
A3. We provide all new employees with training in the 12 mandatory areas which are;

  • Safeguarding
  • Infection Control
  • First Aid
  • Confidentiality
  • Health & Safety
  • Fire Safety
  • Food Hygiene
  • Mental Capacity Act
  • Depravation of Liberty
  • Manual Handling
  • Equality & Diversity
  • Medication Administration

In addition to this you will be enrolled on your Care Certificate.

Once all of your mandatory training has been completed you will have an induction interview with our HR Manager who will go through all of the tasks you will be required to carry out on shift along with instructions on how to complete the relevant paperwork involved in the job role.

Finally you will be required to work a shadow shift alongside a senior member of staff with the individual who you have been recruited to support and this is to show you the day to day demands of the job in a practical setting before you will be left to lone work with the individual.
